A 29-year veteran of Baltimore City government, Vanessa’s expertise in media management, public relations, special events and crisis management has been tested time and again. She is a former head of communications for the departments of Transportation and Public Works. She retired from City government in 2008 after more than a decade as director of Baltimore City Schools’ public relations department. She founded the Pyatt Group in 2013 after five successful years as an independent contractor. A third generation preacher, Vanessa was licensed in May 2016. She serves in ministry at New Shiloh Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Harold A. Carter Jr.
Vanessa is known for insisting on a high degree of professionalism as reflected in her role as Director of Public Relations for the Baltimore City departments of Transportation, Public Works, and Education, as well as chief spokesperson responsible for articulating the respective departments’ progress to constituents during weather-related emergencies, roadway improvements, utility enhancements and inconveniences, and emerging issues.
Ron's marketing communications career in the energy and automotive sectors has delivered impactful brand management, corporate image and reputation enhancement for a diverse clientele. He executes end-to-end communications strategies and thought leadership for sales, marketing, corporate citizenship, public policy, issues management and community/cultural outreach. A respected advisor, Ron will establish and steer results-measurement initiatives to quantify and ensure attainment of clients' communication goals.

James T. Pyatt has advanced program compliance initiatives in City and State government for three decades.
Mr. Pyatt has facilitated over 200 EEO/Sexual Harassment workshops for managers and supervisors throughout City and State government. As compliance administrator with the City of Baltimore he spent 25 years investigating EEO and Sexual Harassment complaints on behalf of the departments of Transportation, Public Works, Planning, and the Mayor’s Office of the Attorney General. The Baltimore Civil Rights Commission, Maryland Civil Rights Commission and the Federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission concurred with the nearly 100% of the formal findings submitted by Mr. Pyatt, underscoring the comprehensive and thorough nature of his investigative expertise.
A Baltimore native, Mr. Pyatt is a graduate of Morgan State University and was certified as Master Compliance (MC) Administrator with the American Contract Compliance Association in 1997. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, and mentors youth and young adults as an official with USATF.
Joyce L. Gillard, Community Outreach Manager
Joyce brings over 40 years of public affairs/information and community outreach to the team. She has coordinated with community leaders and institutional/professional partners to organize and deliver exemplary outcomes. Joyce's life work is to consistently facilitate and deliver the highest level of service to our clients.
Joyce has incorporated strategic outreach and communications strategies that anticipate the political ramifications of community engagement. Her background in customer service, public affairs, and community outreach extends to various departments throughout the City of Baltimore and State of Maryland. As Community Outreach Manager, her focus is coordination of, and participation in, community outreach activities for projects impacting community leaders, stakeholders, institutional and professional partners.
A senior Civil engineering major at Morgan State University, Vashti has completed internships with the Pyatt Group and most recently with Maritime Applied Physics Corporation (MAPCORP). As a coordinator of Limited English Proficiency programs with the State of Maryland, she developed the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to communicate with diverse populations to address specific needs for services.
Vashti brings a unique blend of engineering disciplines and events management experience to the team as support for its work in public works and affordable housing.
Beverly Pollard, Communications Associate
Beverly is a self-motivated individual who is tenacious at researching data to identify root causes and resolve challenges. She is a detail and results oriented person who works well with others at multiple levels. Experienced in gathering and integrating a myriad of business data into meaningful insights. Provides material content recommendations, to ensure content accuracy. Prepares strategic planning presentations and resolves complex issues resulting from changes in daily business operations.
Donna L. Hargrove, Business Manager
Donna's experience in organization, interpersonal communication, grants management and administration was exemplified during her distinguished 30 year career as an educator in public, private and parochial settings. She is active in development of faith based programs and currently serves as Registrar in faith based academia.
